I know it's late....BUT HAPPY BIRTHDAY, 
XD Sorry it's so late...and not particularly good...but I hope that you like it!!!
Early on in his epic tale, "The Chronicles of Aumar," you meet Deidra Alastair, an ambassador of some standing, to put it simply. She's a BIT on the aloof side...and definitely presents herself as standoffish, but you know she has experienced her share of hardships, making her the somewhat fierce individual she is.
With airships and the like, Atty's work has a bit of a fantasy/steampunkish feel when I read it, hence Deidra's more old-fashioned-dress and the background. Sorry if you're disappointed, Atty.

Aww, thank you so much! That background is a nice touch given how society and technology is in their world. ^_^
Also, I absolutely love the description you've given her! Although she's not much older than Atticus, she does owe her status in part to her adoptive family and, as a result, feels an even greater need to prove herself worthy of her role not only because of her young age but also because she's in a field that is dominated by men. Because of that, I've always had an image of her trying to look older or appearing more conservative stylistically than she really is in comparison to women her own age. Women her age would typically be wearing what you might see during the 20s and 30s.
